A relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada will appeal to the Prime Minister of Ukraine on the need to renew expenditures in the state budget for environmental protection measures and the exclusion zone management
On April 23, the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management held a video conference with the participation of Sergii Kalashnyk, Head of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management, and Roman Abramovsky, Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection.
During the meeting, the Head of SAUEZM informed about the state of forest fires in the exclusion zone, the level of radiation background and the safety of critical infrastructure.
Also, during the conference there was a discussion of the draft Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the Program of Activities of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine №3330 dated 13.04.2020, which in the opinion of MPs does not take into account the requirements which are obligatory for the state. In particular, the constitutional requirements for the prevention of pollution and the preservation of clean environment, instead - provides for a reduction in the cost of environmental measures.
As a result of the committee conference it was decided to send a collective committee appeal to the Prime Minister of Ukraine to renew the state budget expenditures on environmental measures and the exclusion zone management that were provided for in the previous budget.
In addition, the relevant committee will recommend to the Committee on Economic Development to submit to the Verkhovna Rada a proposal to provide the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with an opportunity to complete the Government's Program of Activities.
Also, on this day a part of MPs from the relevant committee visited the exclusion zone to get acquainted with the work of SES units and employees of forest fire stations of SSE «Pivnichna Pushcha», that continue fire-fighting and fire containment in Lubyansky, Dityatkivsky, Denisovytsky, Kotovsky, Korogodsky and Paryshivsky forestry.
