A round table meeting on “The status and prospects of researches and developments in the exclusion zone” was held
A round table meeting on “The status and prospects of researches and developments in the exclusion zone” was held at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural resources of Ukraine on January 29, 2016.
The event was organized by State Agency of Ukraine on the Exclusion Zone Management.
Among the participants, in addition to scientists, were Representatives of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Ministry of Education and Science, other institutions and organizations.
State Exclusion Zone Agency Chairman Vitalii Petruk gave a foreword to the audience expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the discussion and stressed on the importance of such events in the future.

During the meeting topical issues were discussed, including:
• environmental monitoring;
• radiation safety;
• management of spent nuclear fuel, radioactive waste and fuel containing masses; prospects of reserved areas in the exclusion zone (flora and fauna);
• forestry and water management;
• providing a barrier function of the Exclusion Zone;
• organizational support of researches and development etc.
Draft decision (attached) was prepared as a result of round table negotiations.
