Equipment for early detection of fires is being tested in the Exclusion zone

A pilot project on testing equipment for early detection of fires in large areas with the use of optical and thermal imaging localization technology has been launched. One system has already been installed.

The pilot project is being implemented within the framework of the agreement on scientific and technical cooperation between SSE «Pivnichna Pushcha» and the company «Engineering-Analytics».

«Early detection of fires and constant monitoring is one of the priority tasks that needs to be comprehensively addressed. The most important elements that should be in the system of early fire detection are accuracy and efficiency, so that firefighters can immediately go to the point of origin of the fire and eliminate it», - said the Head of SAUEZM Sergii Kalashnyk.

According to Roman Kizyun, director of the SSE «Pivnichna Pushcha», the data from the cameras installed in the exclusion zone will be sent to the enterprise's control room. If the equipment detects an increase in temperature in the area to be monitored, which is about 10 kilometers, the dispatcher will automatically receive a message. The system will work 24/7 and the dispatcher, thanks to optical technologies, will be able to see in more detail where the temperature rise was recorded and react quickly.

If the pilot project is successfully tested, the possibility of using optical and thermal imaging localization technology throughout the exclusion zone will be considered.
